07/05/24 Oarsport Regatta. Dorney. Congratulations to our 4 crews that raced at Oarsport yesterday. Solid performance by our Junior Captain, James, to come 5th in B final of J17 singles, excellent ‘first 2km race in single’ by Lilia to make the A final of WJ15 1x’s and finish 6th, and another couple of storming rows by Tilly and Ava to grab a bronze behind South African Schools Rowing Association and Notts County in the J15 double. On to Ball Cup next Sunday where we have 25 juniors racing.

26/04/24 Grateful thanks to The Rowing Foundation for their award of a £3500 grant towards a new coxed quad for our juniors!

26/04/24 Congratulations to Tilly & Ava. Silver medalists in WJ15 2x at the recent Junior Inter Regional Regatta, and to Lilia who sculled to 6th place in B final.

What can Thames Scullers offer you?

Thames Scullers is a thriving new club with opportunities for all abilities.

We have child welfare and water safety at the heart.

We offer low membership fees.

We provide a nurturing environment. Our aim is to assist you to get as much from the sport as you wish and help you aspire to your goals. We offer tailor made training programmes, constructive coaching and feedback.

Our Learn to Row courses are held regularly throughout the year for school years 7-12

Water training takes place on a beautiful 3.5km stretch of the River Thames at Whitchurch.

We offer a good quality and expanding fleet of racing and training boats and equipment.

Head Coach/ Captain Ric Colborne has rowed to 2 Henley Royal Regatta wins, a dozen British National Championships medals, Commonwealth medals, a 4th place at the 1998 Munich World Cup and over 200 domestic wins. Ric has coached successful rowers for over 25 years from new starts to GB triallists and Olympians and was formerly Head coach to Leicester University, Loughborough University, Nottingham Rowing Club and Wallingford juniors.

Our coaches have enhanced DBS certification and adhere to the Thames Scullers codes of conduct.

We provide exciting racing opportunities at local and national level heads and regattas, as well as a team-building ethos and development of individuals abilities to work together, forming strong social bonds across the community.

We offer a pathway to performance. Engaging in sport gives children a more healthy lifestyle and goals which make them less likely to want to participate in substance and alcohol abuse.
